its clients’ marketplaces. While we cannot address each and every attendee’s business like
we do for our clients, this presentation will provide a summary of the most likely path the
overall U.S. economy will take in the coming years. Although the aggregate economy is
derived from an infinite number of variables, this presentation will focus on the simple
relationship between several primary economic variables and present the path of U.S.
downturns and upturns in the past and the future.
Mike Carney
Mike has over 15 years of experience advising executives, boards and professional
investors, as well as, analyzing firms, markets and the macro-economy. He helps clients
make successful strategic decisions by providing a combination of macroeconomic and
marketplace intelligence to develop leading indicators and proactive planning. Prior to his
current role, Mike worked in investment research and corporate finance for a number of
investment banks, including Coker & Palmer (now SMH Capital), Aperion Group, Stephens,
Morgan Keegan (now Regions Financial) and Hoak Breedlove Wesneski. During his career,
Mike has focused on a number of sectors, including business services, industrial, consumer,
technology and financial. He has also analyzed and advised clients on U.S. and global
macroeconomics. He was widely quoted in the business and financial press.
Mike received a M.B.A. from TCU with emphasis in investments and business law. He also
holds a B.A. in economics and completed the Business Economics Program with a
specialization in money and banking from the University of Texas at Austin. Mike is a CFA
charterholder and member of the CFA Institute.
